Why wait until January?

Why wait until the new year to start thinking about your health! Since it’s the first month of the last quarter of 2011, we are going to start the conversation about health now – financial, personal, car, etc, etc, etc!

To kick it off, let’s talk about financial health and how insurance decisions can hit your bottom line.

What is the best deductible option for me?

It truly depends on your budget. The thing to keep in mind with a deductible is that is the amount you are responsible for prior to the claim being paid. For example, if you can afford to pay the first $500 of a claim prior to the insurance carrier paying out anything, then that is a fine option for you. If you can’t afford the amount of your deductible, then you may want to lower it. While you pay a little more each month for a lower deductible, you don’t have as much out of pocket expense if a claim occurs.

How much will my insurance go up if I get in an accident/get a ticket?

It depends on the total cost of the accident or in the case of a violation, it depends on the violation. The NC Department of Insurance has valuable information on how points affect your insurance premiums. For example, 1 insurance point can surcharge a policy up to 25%. The wonderful thing about Nationwide Insurance is the accident and minor violation forgiveness. Nationwide Insurance is the only carrier in the state of NC to offer the coverage. Essentially by purchasing it, it means is if you have an accident or a minor violation, it is 100% forgiven – it does not affect your insurance premium.
